Des capois marchent pour exiger justice pour le président Jovenel Moïse

Quelques centaines de partisans du président Jovenel Moïse ont marché pacifiquement jeudi 22 juillet au Cap-Haïtien. Organisée par la mairie de la ville et la délégation départementale, cette initiative vise à exiger justice pour le président assassiné chez lui le 7 juillet dernier. La marche a démarré à 11h10 a.m. devant les locaux de la mairie pour terminer sa course plus de deux heures plus tard à Vertières.

La plupart des participants portaient des t-shirts blancs, sponsorisés par l’ONA, et sur lesquels étaient imprimés des messages d’amour et d’attachement au président défunt. L’assassinat du président Moïse a ravivé les contentieux historiques mulâtres/nègres, gens du nord/ gens du Sud et de l’Ouest. « Je ne suis pas un supporteur de Jovenel Moïse. Je suis un citoyen du Cap-Haïtien. Nous dans le Nord, nous avons perdu 5 présidents dans les mêmes conditions. Cela doit cesser. Il faut envoyer une mise en garde aux citoyens de l’Ouest et du Sud. C’est pour cela que je participe à la marche d’aujourd’hui », a déclaré Ernst Romain, un quinquagénaire.

Les tortures infligées au président et l’état de son cadavre sont également interprétés par les manifestants. « On lui a crevé un œil parce qu’il voulait nous éclairer. On lui a cassé un bras parce qu’il voulait nous aider. Il a été assassiné parce qu’il luttait pour le peuple », a déclaré Rose-Marie, alors que la marche se trouvait à la rue L.

La mairesse du Cap-Haïtien, Yverose Pierre, a dit observer le travail de la police dans l’enquête sur l’assassinat du président. Cependant, la mairesse croit que le plus important c’est de remonter aux commanditaires de l’acte. « Il faut trouver les auteurs intellectuels. C’est ce qui nous intéresse. Il n’y aura pas de justice si on ne remonte pas aux auteurs intellectuels », estime la mairesse.

Pour sa part, l’ancien sénateur Nawoon Marcellus croit que justice peut être rendue au président Moïse et à sa famille. « S’il y a une volonté politique, les institutions nationales peuvent mener l’enquête », estime-t-il. Cependant, l’ancien parlementaire appuie ceux qui demandent de surseoir à l’organisation des funérailles jusqu’à ce qu’on trouve les auteurs physiques et intellectuels. « J’appuie la population qui exige justice pour le président. Je suis d’accord avec ceux qui ne veulent pas que le président soit enterré avant qu’on arrive à élucider son meurtre », a-t-il déclaré.

La marche s’est terminé sur la place des héros de l’indépendance à Vertières. Des barricades de pneus enflammés ont été érigées dans certains endroits dans la ville en marge de la manifestation. La situation a été particulièrement tendue au centre-ville, notamment sur le boulevard Carrenage. Des individus ont érigé des barricades, lancé des pierres en direction de plusieurs véhicules transportant des officiels haïtiens et des diplomates. Un restaurant très célèbre au centre-ville a été aussi visé par les jets de pierres.
